Getting to the Church On Time
for directions from Santa Cruz (in
the vicinity of the recommended hotels) to Stanford Click here for directions from Stanford Memorial Church to the Cocoanut Grove Note: Parking at Stanford Memorial Church is pretty spread out and you can't drive in the middle of campus. For those of you who like to cut it close, remember to leave yourself about 10 minutes to walk from parking into the Main Quad where the church is. If
you are
coming in from out of town, we strongly recommend that you consider coming
in on Friday night, and that you
stay in Santa Cruz. Please see the Lodging page
for details
on
where to stay.
By automobile: Once you have landed, you might want to rent a car. Prices seem to hover around $25/ day. Check for yourself on www.orbitz.com or www.expedia.com. Stanford Memorial Church
We will be exchanging our vows at MemChu (Stanford-speak for Memorial Church). It just seemed appropriate to seal the deal at Stanford, since we were students there at the same time. We did not actually know each other very well while we were students, though. We truly connected after senior year when we exchanged email addresses after Angela almost ran Issac over with her bike in front of the CoHo (Stanford-speak for the campus Coffee House)… The Cocoanut Grove
Angela got down on her knee in the sand and gave Issac a ring on Pleasure Point, just a few miles south of the Cocoanut Grove. When asked, that is usually the reason we give for why we are having the party at the Cocoanut Grove. Another reason is that we both love being near the ocean. The Cocoanut Grove sits literally in the sand, overlooking the water. What more could you ask for? Furthermore, we wanted to give all of you who are coming from out of town a really good excuse to make a vacation out of it. As far as we are concerned, Santa Cruz is a way better place for a vacation than Palo Alto. To find out more about the The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and its illustrious history, check out these sites. The ballroom we'll be using (pictured above in an old photo) has been the site of many wonderful concerts from the swing era and before. |
